Not Worth The Hype #1: ‘One Day’ by David Nicholls

If you’re a fan of my YouTube videos (if you haven’t seen them before then you can check them out here), you’d know that since my very first video, I’ve been reading the bestselling novel ‘One Day’ by David Nicholls. If you don’t know me then you’d be unaware that me reading the same book for a month is very unlikely and the reason is this: this book is dull.

Obviously, this is just my opinion so I’ve you’ve also read the book before and you disagree then I totally respect your opinion and envy you slightly because you enjoyed the experience of reading this more than I did. But this book bored me so much that I literally stopped reading it half way through because it’s not making me want to read it at all.

When I first started reading this book, I found the story gripping and quite entertaining, but as I got about 50 pages in, I began to find the story a bit slow. The story doesn’t really seem to progress at all and thoroughly began to make me fall asleep a lot quicker than it would do if I were reading any other book.

My idea is to watch the movie adaption of the film (starring Anne Hathaway, a personal favourite of mine) and see if I prefer the film. As of tonight though, I’ll be starting a new book; the bestseller ‘The Book Thief’ by Markus Zusak.

I hope that if you decide to read this book, you don’t find it as dull as I did.
