I’ve spent a lot of time over the past few months going on and on about the Bioderma Purifying Foaming Gel and saying how it was ‘the cleanser from the heavens’, so finding something to overtake it in my skincare routine when it ran out was going to be a challenge; it wasn’t until I went in to the Kiehl’s store in Canary Wharf when I found my new cleansing buddy… meet the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser.
Knowing that I was in the market for a new cleanser, I new that I had to get one in the Kiehl’s store… duh. So, after browsing the ever-interesting displays, I decided to go for the most basic cleanser available and test whether or not it was going to work for me as the only Kiehl’s products I had used before were samples I’d received at the Selfridges counter (why on Earth am I so late on the bandwagon!?)
At first, I was surprisingly disappointed in the product. The almost balmy gel that came out of the tube really wasn’t working for me and it just felt like I was pulling at my skin when applying it. I did eventually work out, though, that only a small amount was required on to already damp skin (always read the labels, kids!) but my skin still didn’t feel like it was getting the treatment it needed and just looked the same as it would do had I left my face dirty that morning/evening.
It wasn’t until about a week later when I realised that this cleanser was having a very slow yet a very good effect on my skin. My skin was finally turning into what it would be like had I just cleansed with the Bioderma cleanser and slowly but surely, big spots and acne were becoming a thing of the past. I began to feel as though my skin was feeling a lot smoother (also a big thanks to the moisturiser from the same range which I got a sample of which I must go and buy) and my skin was also feeling a lot cleaner.
Even though I really do like this cleanser now, I do still prefer the Bioderma cleanser’s consistency and almost instant effects on the skin; I feel as though the foaming aspect of the cleanser makes my skin feel like it’s having a deeper cleanse than it would get with the Kiehl’s cleanser and the consistency is just a lot more pleasant to work with. Nevertheless, this is a fantastic cleanser that’s a lot easier to get hold of in the UK than the Bioderma Purifying Foaming Gel, and is also a great introduction to Kiehl’s skincare.
