Re-review: Soap & Glory’s ‘The Scrub of Your Life’

I was watching one of Aine’s latest videos (link – here) and she mentioned this product as being something that irritated her. Considering I also recieved this as part of the Yule Monty gift set at Christmas, I decided that it was about time that I wrote a re-review on this thing (I wrote a review on it back in 2013 as well) because I’ve loved it so much in the past.
The Scrub of Your Life is Soap & Glory’s most popular body exfoliant so I guess that’s why it’s one that I seem to hear a lot of hype about. I first tried it at the start of last Summer after having been gifted it as part of a mini-toiletries gift set and instantly fell in love; considering I have very dry skin on my body (TMI?) compared to my rather oily/combination face, this became my life line when I was having a flakey day.
The scrub is available only in tube form and the consistency inside is one of those satisfying-to-rub-between-your-fingers kind of things. Inside this cloudy looking lotion are small, pink micro-exfoliating beads which are what you really have to work into the dry patches to get all of the dead skin off, not the lotion itself. It may sound stupid of me to even think of pointing out something as obvious as that but seriously, getting that lotion off of your skin can be a bit of a nightmare at the best of times…
Even though I loved this product the first time around, I am beginning to see the flaws in it that Aine mentioned in her video. For starters, washing the micro-exfoliating beads off of your body is a mammoth task in the first place; you have to rub your skin twice as vigorously as you did when applying the lotion just to get the main bulk of beads off! (And yes my lovely readers, it is one of those things that you manage to find ‘where the sun don’t shine’ for days after use…)
Even so, considering the price of the product, this isn’t the worse thing to spend your money on. It does do it’s job of removing dead skin (almost) completely, even if it can leave a residue from the lotion…
