After my intense few weeks of devouring as many pictures, live streams and videos from the Fashion Week circuit as possible, I soon realised that I’d completely forgotten about the trends that would be cropping up this spring as opposed to this fall. After a few very simple Google searches, thousands of videos and pictures of beauty looks caught my eyes and one thing was very clear: orange lips are in. I’ve always been one for an orange pout so digging out a few old and new favourites was a pretty easy task. Ranging from bright bolds to glossy nudes, I present you with an ode to my favourite orange lip colours (oh, and my favourite orange nail polish has been thrown in there for you, too…)
THE MATTE OFFERING: Revlon Matte Balm in ‘Mischevious‘ // I remember hearing about these when they were first launched in the US and I instantly knew that these were going to be a nightmare to get my hands on. Funnily, the only reason that they were hard to get hold of is because it took forever for all of my local Boots’ to stock up on them. When they finally got them in, I picked up this shade and Elusive; a dusky pink that is right up my street. The formula of these is a perfect blend of the original glossy Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and their standard Super Lustrous lipsticks; they’re packed with pigment and do anything but dry the lips, even when they dry out to their demi-matte finish.
THE GLOSSY OFFERING: Revlon Lip Butter in ‘Juicy Papaya’ // Oh yes, look who’s back. I think it’s clear that I can’t get enough of it once again after I realised that I didn’t hate it as much as I thought I did nine months back. We all know what these bullets of moisturising goodness can do so I won’t bore you with all the detail. Just know that this is the perfect way to wear an orange lip on a day to day basis.
THE NUDE OFFERING: Topshop Lipstick in ‘Whimsical’ // Whimsical is the pinkiest pick out of all of these and was actually given to me by Abbie because (and I quote), “It just looks like a colour that would really suit you”. So, as well as being overly flattered, I’ve been donning it regularly ever since. The perfect blend of both of the aforementioned products, the Topshop lipsticks manage to stay moisturising and pigmented after every application. Creamy and incredibly easy to wear on a lazy makeup day? Sold.
THE NAIL COLOUR: Essie’s ‘Fear or Desire’ // I don’t know if this has even been mentioned on Shaunyland before but this was a colour I seemed to be wearing a lot over last summer. As well as being amazing quality and withstanding chips for days on end, the colour is also great for reeling in the compliments. The perfect way to complete the orange look.
